  • Rocket Giotto leaking top bolt on E61 Grouphead (see pic)

I've had the machine for just under a year and I started noticing some water near the top largest bolt on the grouphead.

Picture here showing water marks: Imgur

The weird thing is the seal appears completely dry and fine when the machine is on and in use. Only after overnight in the morning do I notice some water drops around the bolt, after the machine's been off for 12+ hours. Is the top part of the grouphead under some sort of pressure while the machine's off?

No other leaks, everything else about the machine seems normal.

Yes- metal cools and contracts. All you need to do it tighten it a touch.

Thank you - do I tighten the big one or the small one? not sure if it's the small one that's squishing the big one down or not.

Big one- it's where the leak is coming from

The big one is the mushroom which screws into the head - the small one is the jet/filter cover which screws into the mushroom.

A big hexagonal socket is the best way to go. Less likely to mar the chrome finish...

Do not use twelve sided sockets or ring spanners, as these are much more likely to cause damage; same goes for shifting spanners too...

              Mal.

Good idea re 6 sided socket. I also used a bit of tape to prevent direct contact.

                Cheers
