  • Expobar Office SA/Control cooling flush question.

    Hi all,

I have used an Expobar Office SA for sometime now however making good coffee out of it is still a bit hit and miss. would like to get some help with the following questions.

    1. What is the cooling flushing time required? assuming after heating up for 30-40 minutes.

    2. What is the minimum heating up time? with the 2000w heating element on expobar and cooling flush can I get away with shorter heating up time (15-20 mins) ?

    Thanks.

The problem with a machine that needs a cooling flush is that the "ideal" cooling flush is an imprecise concept at best. It depends on how long the machine has been on, when the last shot was made, how much water was used to make the last shot etc etc etc. Even if all of the variables which affect what the cooling flush needs to be have been controlled, you still have to somehow perform the exact flush you need. Go too long and the HX water will be too cold which, arguably, is worse than too hot. Ideally, get it calibrated to reduce the need to flush as much as possible (you may not be able to remove it completely from the Office SA ...). Failing that, flush until it stops hissing!

Thanks for the kind response, charlie.

Do all HX machines require calibration before the need to flushes can be reduced? Doesn't manufacturer calibrate their machine prior to shipping?

Some models are temperature stable (no cooling flush required) from the factory, some are tweaked a little by the importers. Other models can be improved with a "tune" or calibration - sometimes to the point of having excellent temperature stability. I know there are some other threads that cover this ...
