BFC Giove repairs - just need to vent (and find a new front panel)

I didn't think anyone else outside CS would understand.

I should start by saying that we are currently living in Sri Lanka where we knew the coffee would be terrible and so brought our BFC with us. I'm not sure if it was the constant power surges but one day Giove wouldn't turn on, so I turned to one of the only repairers who are also agents for Lavazza and run a coffee franchise. I figured at least they'd know the internals of a coffee machine. I bet you can see where this is going. Anyway, I was wrong. Pics attached.

They somehow managed to ahhhh, I can't even explain. Just look at the pictures.

"I told you so"s not really appreciated right now. It's a developing country and I had limited options.

Anyone that has any info on how I can get a whole new front panel in - I'd be eternally grateful. I love this fricking machine and I'm not even sure it's in production anymore.

I can't believe that they dared give it back to you like that Tashie. Unspeakable incompetence.

We had a write off a long time ago and we *may* still have the chassis hanging around somewhere. If so we can try to harvest the panel for you. I'll ask our tech to have a scrounge around.

I can't imagine that you would have any other hope of repair. It's a long since discontinued machine to the best of my knowledge.

Ahh Chris, thanks for giving me a little glimmer of hope. Can't tell you how much it means to me *fingers crossed*

You'd think they would have been able to just say "sorry, this problem is outside our area of expertise" but no. I'd have much preferred that to this outcome.

Thanks again for your help Chris, I have emailed BFC in Italy, but I suspect I won't be hearing back from them.

You may be better to contact Dave Makin (Axil Coffee) in Melbourne Tashie...

He might have a leftover which has been plundered for parts. Always worth a try if we don't find ours...

Yikes.

If no luck with new panel you could cut a larger neat hole and place a new sub panel over it (in stainless or contrasting black?) and neatly mount the switch and light.
