Sorry, I keep forgetting to check CS now that I have a functioning and aesthetically pleasing coffee machine once more.

From my understanding they replaced part #6 from the diagram below?

Freight looked too messy and expensive in the end and the labour cost alone ran into the hundreds. Fortunately, the company that stuffed up here did manage to source and install a new front panel, though it did take a few months. It's almost unheard of here in Sri Lanka so I think I got lucky.

Huge thanks to Chris for helping me source a new front panel though fortunately it wasn't needed in the end.
    Good good Tashie.

Glad it's been resolved for you...

Im curious to know/see what they actually did given that the front panel of the Giove is integral to the chassis and is not replaceable as such? Pics?

    Chris

It actually looks like they just slammed a screwdriver into the front of the machine.

But hey, who needs a front panel anyway? *grumble*

    Well done Chris.

Been following this thread with interest.

Bad luck about the damage Tashie, hope it all works out and you restore the machine to its former glory.

    Yikes.

If no luck with new panel you could cut a larger neat hole and place a new sub panel over it (in stainless or contrasting black?) and neatly mount the switch and light.

    Cheers
