I have the faema carisma s1 operational again. I read up on the importance of orientation of the magnetic field in relation to the reed switch and also the magnetic flux, and in the process learned a little more.
    Thank you.cafelazio.

      Faema Carisma S1

      hi Guys,

I've had the Faema for a couple of moths now and am very happy with the quality of coffee. I'm running a Commercial Mazzer grinder, and pull about 4 shots per day. The machine seems a bit "niggly'. I lowered the pressure to about 9.5 bar (thank you Alistair), and the coffee does taste better. I picked up a fault light/indication this afternoon and the machine won't warm up. The Dial turns orange, it has a strange water in a container logo, come up on the top of the display. It's not the H2O display. I've trolled the manuals, etc, and can't seem to find the meaning of this Icon. Can anyone assist?

That is the tank/reservoir need water symbol.Try jiggle/moving the reservoir slightly and carefully to line up the magnet and sensor.
IT seems similar to the issue i had; read above from #84 down .

HI Cafelazio, I've jiggled it around for a few months now, but now it's completely stopped. I f I move the tank higher, the light goes out, but the water connection comes away and the vibration pump stops working due to lack of water, etc. I've found a parts manual and have ordered a few O-rings, water softener, and a new magnet. Did you bypass your magnet? IF you haven't the problem is going to come back, so try and work on a fix so as to limit your down time.

A further update. I tried to order a new float from the Faema agents here in the Uk and they're contacting Faema in Italy for the part. Their part manual doesn't list the magnet float (maybe because it's such a bad design, they're embarrassed) as well as the water softener. My softener has become blocked and the pump struggles to get water through. I went into a stationary store and bought tiny office magnets ( 8 -10 ml) in diameter and 1mm thick and stuck 1 on the machine where the water container float sits. It works very well.

I have wedged the tank in position and avoid moving it , if the magnet loses contact with the reed switch i reposition the water tank and wedge in place.
I read reviews from 2014 on coffeegeek having this problem other wise it is a very good machine. I've used it every day over 4 years and very pleased with performance, thinking of moving it on . i have a pid ecm tecknika now and the coffee is comparable.

Hey, sorry to dig up an old thread.

I'm thinking about getting one that has come up for sale recently. What would you expect to pay for one with no known history from 2014?
