    Can think of a few things;
    1. You can try removing the tip of the hot water wand and seeing if water flows with the tip removed. Carefully rotate the tip anti-clockwise to remove and it should unscrew.
    2. Your hot water copper pipe inside the machine could be blocked by scale most behind the tap.
    3. Your hot water copper pipe inside the machine could be blocked by scale at the boiler connection.
    4. You could try descaling the machine with some activated descaler but if the hot water line is physically blocked with scale I don't think it will be easily broken down. This descaling you can have a look at online, with a half/full tank mix in descaler and run into the boiler. Then run through the group and open the hot water tap to try and force some descaling solution towards the blockage.

To look at 2 you will have to remove the case and then remove the nut attaching the hot water copper pipe to tap on the front. 3 will require removing the other end of the hot water pipe from the boiler

Hey, sorry to dig up an old thread.

I'm thinking about getting one that has come up for sale recently. What would you expect to pay for one with no known history from 2014?

I have wedged the tank in position and avoid moving it , if the magnet loses contact with the reed switch i reposition the water tank and wedge in place.
I read reviews from 2014 on coffeegeek having this problem other wise it is a very good machine. I've used it every day over 4 years and very pleased with performance, thinking of moving it on . i have a pid ecm tecknika now and the coffee is comparable.

A further update. I tried to order a new float from the Faema agents here in the Uk and they're contacting Faema in Italy for the part. Their part manual doesn't list the magnet float (maybe because it's such a bad design, they're embarrassed) as well as the water softener. My softener has become blocked and the pump struggles to get water through. I went into a stationary store and bought tiny office magnets ( 8 -10 ml) in diameter and 1mm thick and stuck 1 on the machine where the water container float sits. It works very well.

HI Cafelazio, I've jiggled it around for a few months now, but now it's completely stopped. I f I move the tank higher, the light goes out, but the water connection comes away and the vibration pump stops working due to lack of water, etc. I've found a parts manual and have ordered a few O-rings, water softener, and a new magnet. Did you bypass your magnet? IF you haven't the problem is going to come back, so try and work on a fix so as to limit your down time.

That is the tank/reservoir need water symbol.Try jiggle/moving the reservoir slightly and carefully to line up the magnet and sensor.
IT seems similar to the issue i had; read above from #84 down .

    Faema Carisma S1

    hi Guys,

I've had the Faema for a couple of moths now and am very happy with the quality of coffee. I'm running a Commercial Mazzer grinder, and pull about 4 shots per day. The machine seems a bit "niggly'. I lowered the pressure to about 9.5 bar (thank you Alistair), and the coffee does taste better. I picked up a fault light/indication this afternoon and the machine won't warm up. The Dial turns orange, it has a strange water in a container logo, come up on the top of the display. It's not the H2O display. I've trolled the manuals, etc, and can't seem to find the meaning of this Icon. Can anyone assist?

I have the faema carisma s1 operational again. I read up on the importance of orientation of the magnetic field in relation to the reed switch and also the magnetic flux, and in the process learned a little more.
    Thank you.cafelazio.

I bought some small rare earth magnets off eBay and duct taped a couple over the sensor in a 6910 I found. Low tech bypass. If you get magnets small enough you may be able to add just enough that the existing magnet in the tank will work again, the magnets I bought either weren't enough or completely bypassed the tank magnet, so I just bypassed it and left the 6910 without a water warning.

Thanks for the suggestions even though it 's not the SB 6910. This is the Faema Carisma s1 thread.
So both machines use a magnet float on a reed switch ?
I 'll test with a small strong magnet and hope it turns out to be a simple fix .
I have never relied on it as a reminder for h2o so if i could bypass it. Would that be connect the two wires into the switch ?
    thank you.

Yes the 6910 magnet plastic housing seems to let water in, then the magnet disintegrates and looses its magnetisity (my word).

remove the tank, grab a strong magnet and move it over the reed switch, you should hear it click and the machine should respond correspondingly. I wouldnt think the reed switch would fail, my guess would be the magnet not activating it, or if it is then wiring/control issue.

    Cheers

Adjust the metal clip so that the float will be higher enough to clear low water level.

Magnets do lose their strength over time. I know replacing the float magnet in a 6910 will almost always fix the low water error.

Cleared the low water reading by moving the reservoir while in position, but randomly reverts to orange h2O symbol.
Could it be the switch failing - i think it is a reed switch - not detecting the float magnet ? Or maybe the relay to the control board ?
The machine is 4 years old with light use, 4-5 coffees a day.
I did find the water softener cartridge had leaked; the resin beads had collected in and around the magnet float - i initially thought it to be the cause so flushed it out and replaced with a generic softener cartridge.
Could the magnet get weak ?
Appreciate any insight, thank you .
