Descaling HX machines?

I just purchased a Bezzera bz10 and just reading up on maintenance for HX machines.

There seems to be different view on this. Some say descale and others say to control the water coming into your tank.

Since I like to take the lazy way. Can I just use water filtered from Brita flask? The Brita website states that it softens the water, is this what we are after?

Thanks Dimal, looks like i will be going with the aqua pro benchtop filter. I presume the filter can be used for normal drinking not just for coffee machines? Or is softening not ideal for general drinking? Also im in Sydney and on the sydney water site it states our water is soft, will softening with the filter reduce ion count too much for my machine?
