    You bet ;D 8-),

Also, Ive never noticed this phenomenon when giving the little Mokita a good going over every few months. The Mokita was very easy to strip down and therefore worth a spring clean and I never once noticed coffee, in any disguise, jammed into any dim dark corner or recess. And that was with a routine that involved a quick back-flush with plain water after every brew session and a proper back-flush with Espresso Clean once per week 8-).

    Mal.

Interestingly a coffee technician told me that the worst thing an operator can do it backflush without chemical because it simply pushes the coffee where it shouldnt be and enforces it there - whereas the chemical disolves it away - just a thought, dont know myself.

    Cheers
A couple of points to consider with that techs statement. Firstly, every time you pull a shot (on machines with a 3-way valve) you are in essence backflushing with-out a chemical. Secondly backflush chemicals dont dissolve coffee grounds, just the oils.

Is there a consensus about this?

thats pretty inconsistent with the word on the street. I think we need to start a thread. "Coffee Machine techs say the darnedest things."

Fulcrum, sounds like you are taking good care of the Expobar, and a "professional" service would be an unnecessary expense. Id just pay attention to the state of the shower screen and group seal. Does it feel pliable or is it hardening? It is not critical at this stage but worth a check by your own eyes.

    Machine maintenance

My Expobar Minore is about to turn 1 and I was wondering if she needs a service?
    My maintenance is as follows:
    Backflush after each session
    Chemical backflush every 7-14 days
    general clean weekly
Water softener recharge a few times. I noticed that the filling is now an orange colour. Does this mean it should be replaced?
Usage is about 4-6 doubles a day.

Is there any maintenance that I should get a technician to do?
Is there something more I should be doing to keep everything running smoothly?

    Regards
    Gavin
