  • Using hot water from the boiler

    Hi All,
As my machine stays on for long periods, especially at weekends, I find I am increasingly using the hot water from the boiler for tea, other hot drinks and various other uses. I have read that using the water from the boiler can help in reducing the concentration of minerals in boiler thus reducing the likelyhood of scale buildup. I am wondering if there are any downsides to frequently using the boiler water?
    Thanks.

Use it as much as you can.

Black tea only. Even then, I'd let it cool slightly before adding to the tea, I find boiling water a bit of a flavour killer

Also there's the option to add a dash of cold water from the tap to get the temp down to suit long blacks and tea drinks.

The filtered water that comes from my machines water spout is a Tea flavour killer and way too hot, regular tap water not overheated I find is much preferred for tea. I use the water spout extensively otherwise during coffee prep.
