Yes any sort of regime is necessary. In summer! I now pull off about 400 mls every couple of days at the end of the session let the boiler fill then turn off the machine, fresh water for the next session. I will be more disciplined now.

The safest thing to do regarding this issue, is to always use hot water from the boiler to warm-up your cups just prior to pulling a shot. Ensures an adequate turnover of water through the boiler to prevent early onset of scale accumulation (accretion).Originally posted by dumiya View PostI think largely because misreading a post long ago which said not to use the hot water to make tea I did not consistently replace the water in the boiler.

Yes the Antivac valve was gummed up. I think largely because misreading a post long ago which said not to use the hot water to make tea I did not consistently replace the water in the boiler. I remember when I did a major clean up before storing it the water out of the boiler was grey, metallic and sparkly - I am glad I did not make tea for any one.
The result was that around the 'o' ring there were rust looking layers that increased to size of the 'o' ring so it sort of got stuck. I replaced the Antivac valve. And serviced the old one by cleaning and removing the crud on the 'o' ring.
I notice that the Antivac valve on the V3 was a low profile one unlike the tall two part one on the Premium which I would prefer.

All good. I found the way in. Much simpler than the Premium. I will check the Antivac valve.

Giotto Rocket AUA V3. A slight inconvenience☹️
My V3 has been resting for a few months. I started it up today and the anti vac valve has stuck open! Now that was a simple task to clean or replace - well it was with my old Premium. Our water in WA is pretty awful so these minor "check the water and oil and tyre" jobs I usually do.
But the V3 has no obvious screws to undo. Any major work of course I would take it to my trusted service agent. But before I do that would there be anyone kind enough to reveal the access mysteries.
Many thanks in advance and blessings for the New Year...
