Hi guys, newbie here. I was reading about this machine in this excellent forum and there were some references that this "mater pressurestat" thingeemagee is somewhat "problematic"? Or is this all a furphy and not something to worry about? Just doing my research before committing precious coin :/

It's fine for normal domestic use. They'll usually last many years and the microswitch is cheap to replace if it fails.
However, if you are looking to leave your machine on for long periods at a time, perhaps consider a machine with a Sirai pressurestat which is more suited to extended operation. It is what is used in most commercial machines.
Another option is to have the machine retrofitted with a Sirai which is a fairly simple job as long as there's enough room in the machine body.

The machine will either not heat up at all or continually heat until the pressure relief valve opens.
If the diaphragm of the pressurestat becomes worn, the deadband (i.e. gap between switch on and switch off) can increase which is a problem. You will notice this by observing the pressure gauge. When functioning normally, the deadband should be very small, say between 0.1-0.3 bar. In a faulty state, the deadband will increase anywhere higher than that, usually 0.5 bar or more.
You shouldn't need to worry about any of these problems for many years anyway.

Years ago the pressurstat issue was actually with the Campini domestic units. It went through a number of domestic machine models.
The majority of domestic machines have a Matter or Campini pressurstat, a bit like Holden or Ford.
Only the top end domestics would have a Sirai commercial unit.
Should not be a concern at all when looking at a quality brand like Rocket
