Re: Upgraded from Silvia to Giotto?
I am now the proud owner of a VBM / Mazzer combo.Originally posted by dino link=1183695204/0#3 date=1183718311tip: check out the Vibiemme domobar super as well
Thanks to Chris from Talk Coffee, everything arrived safe and sound.
The steaming power of the VBM is massive, I will have to adjust my technique some what.
Also I must add that the Pullman is a work of art and a pleasure to use.

Re: Upgraded from Silvia to Giotto?
Hi Nigel
Im guessing youre in Sydney since you say you were at the Aromafest and so, suggest you take the time to go over to Di Bartolis and try out a few HXs.
I have a personal preference, and so will you, once you try them out side-by-side, using the same beans, grinder, etc. Also take up 2mcm offer to discuss pros and cons - I dont think you can go past Chris as a relliable source of honest information.

Re: Upgraded from Silvia to Giotto?
Gday Nigel,
Theres so many machines to consider in this price bracket, I wont attempt to list them for fear of forgetting some of them
.
I would suggest you have a look down the left hand side of the page and get in touch with one of the site sponsors listed there. Theres one in just about every capital city, and Im sure that if youre not close by, theyll assist with freighting one to you.
Youll get fantastic service and great advice from any of them, and theyll be able to assist you with a hassle free purchase and great after sales service 8-).
Good luck with your decision making, and like the song says, "Its only just begun..." ;D.

Re: Upgraded from Silvia to Giotto?
I was fortunate to get to demo a Silvia at Aroma, whilst impressed with what was in the cup, I have decided to go for a HX machine for the speed.
They seem to be a little thin on the ground at the moment.
The VBM is impressive, anything else I should be considering?

Re: Upgraded from Silvia to Giotto?
I have experience with both a silvia and and a giotto, and the big difference is the ability to steam and brew at the same time. to make a capaccino on silvia, I timed myself at about 2minutes 40seconds, and on the giotto under a minute flat. The quality of the shots there is a noticable improvement as well, but if you are mainly just making shots, Silvia should satisfy fine.
Cheers, Mark
EDIT: Silvia should satisfy either way, but Giotto is simply in a different league as far as efficiency, making multiple drinks and huge steaming capacity is concerned.

Re: Upgraded from Silvia to Giotto?
Gday Aedion,
I upgraded for a few reasons;
Its a sexy flash machine,
Dont have to wait the extra 30-45 seconds for the steam light on the Silvia to heat up,
Is a bit more robust.
Worth over double the cost of a Silvia, only if you can afford it. Does on selling the Silvia affect your upgrade? Just something to consider.
Regards
Boris.

Re: Upgraded from Silvia to Giotto?
Hi Nigel- been there, done that and now I sell them both as well.Originally posted by aedion link=1183695204/0#0 date=1183695204Hi Everyone
I am set to purchase a Silvia/Rocky combo in the next week. ;D
But there is one thing that I keep noticing, alot of Giotto owners are ex-Silvia owners.
I would appreciated it if some of you could share your reasons for upgrading and was the extra cash worth it?
I think I will be happy with the Silvia, but if it will only be around for year I may as well step up for the Giotto.
Cheers
Nigel
Id be delighted to discuss both with you from an owners perspective and a sales perspective as well as assist with a great price if you so desire...Feel free to give me a ring...
regards
Chris
