Well done Judith, I'm sure you will be happy with the machine.Originally posted by Judith View PostThanks for the help! I went with a Bezzera Domus Galatea and it's beautiful!
Got it from Coffee Machine Specialist in Brisbane for $2750 and they had a special for a free service and a few accessories thrown in which was great. Very happy!
The Domus Galatea is a forgiving machine to use, it makes great espresso.
If you have any problems , ask questions, plenty of expertise around here.

Yep, agree with Yelta (though my machine was a BFC Dual Boiler Diadema Junior Extra with PID)...
Both "Crema Coffee Garage" and "Coffee Machine Specialist" are good companies to deal with - CC Garage is a CS Site Sponsor too. Am not familiar with Simply Beans so someone else may be able to comment on them. "Di Bella Coffee" is also a Site Sponsor but am unsure about their equipment range stocked.
A good quality Grinder is essential if you don't already own one, so that may have to be factored into the overall budget. Should allow between $600-900 for something decent.
The best thing to do, by far, is to arrange some hands-on demonstrations with machines on your shortlist via a couple of specialist retailers and that way, you can be sure you're getting the machine that's right for you. Plus, you get to size up the vendor from whom you may be purchasing the machine re: training, service and support, etc...
Happy Hunting,
Mal.

Hi Judith, most of the machines you name have a very good reputation.Originally posted by Judith View PostHi there!
Looking to buy a new machine with a budget of $3K, but would rather spend a bit less if it won't make too much difference. Upgrading from a small Lelit machine. Want something that is quite forgiving, that will still make a great coffee for my partner for example. Something easy to use and easy to maintain.
Edit: Oh we make milk based coffees pretty much 100% of the time.
Ok some some thoughts on these machines?
BFC (Diadema) junior plus levetta
BFC (Diadema) unico splendor
SAB Viennetta Lever (can't find any info on this brand???)
ECM Mechanika Slim
ECM Barista
Vibiemme Domobar Super Lever
Bezzera Domus Galatea
I'm on the Gold Coast, so looking to buy around here or up in Brisbane. Any good suppliers up here? I've had a quick look at:
Crema Coffee Garage
Simply Beans (Underwood)
Coffee Machine Specialist
Any opinions would be great! Thanks guys!
I've had a Bezzera Domus Galatea for almost 10 years, very reliable, easy to use, and of course it makes great coffee.
Another of our long time members (Dimal) has until recently owned a Unico Splendor, I know he has a very high opinion of the brand/model.
I assume you already own a grinder.
