  • OPV adjustment on Expobar Office Control

How difficult is it to adjust the OPV on the Office Control?
I adjusted my minore and its fairly straight forward. At the moment she is in for repairs and I have a Control on loan that is running at 13 bar
Being a loaner I dont want to mess with it too much but would like to get the brew pressure down if easily possible.

    Regards
    Gavin

Hi Gavin, Its in the same place, you just cant get to it :...

Last time I did one, it took almost an hour to gain access to it....If its on loan, Id suggest dont bother and just hope that yours comes back soon...What happened to the Minore?

      Fulcrum,

      2 questions:
      1) how did you test the preassure on the minore...i have a minore but dont have a preassure reader, so just wondering if there is another way
      2) how did you adjust the preassure on the minore? was it by drilling the hole behind the driptray?

I havent really tested the minore, but have a feeling it may be a touch high!

This needs to be done with a p/f pressure gauge.

Boiler pressure gauges dont take a measurement at the group. I have seen machine gauges read up to 1.5 over actual- so a 10.5 bar displayed may actually be the desired 9 bar....

Krusty: I have a pf with a pressure guage to test the brew pressure. The opv is adjusted with a screwdriver; just take the back cover off and you can see the opv just behind the hot water side.
There is another way where you put a blind filter in and measure the water coming out of the overflow...too complicated for me.
2MCM: THe temp display doesnt work and the front boiler is not heating up so I suspect the controller is dead. And of course this happened just 2 weeks out of warranty >

Gavin- This is a known issue with early build Minore/Minore II....The fix is new Aussie board and contoller. Id make a HEAP of noise and do my utmost to have it covered. The vendor MUST refer it back to Expobar. Their support has been excellent on this matter. Labour is circa $100-150 and $$$ in parts...Warranty would be good ;-)

Yup, that was my plan: see what the fault is and then push for a warranty repair.

With regard to original question...leave it alone.

It doth not belong to you. I will wager that the coffee it is making is just fine anyway, and you probably wouldnt have thought anything was out of the ordinary if you hadnt put a gauge up to it.

Good point. My Isomac Mondiale has been running at 12 bar indicated on its
pressure gauge since coming back from a minor repair a few months ago.
I decided not to worry about it, as its producing excellent coffee. But I do
wonder sometimes what difference it makes ....

If you are in NSW youd have a good chance.
When things in that price range break down just outside warranty period Fair Trading and the ACC take your side.

                    Its an "Implied Warranty".

" Its an "Implied Warranty". "

I think the ACCC provisions would cover it nationwide, under
the notion of fitness for purpose and expectation of servicable
                      life.

I have a smartphone with notionally a one year warranty. The screen just
died after two years. I argued with them on the above basis and
promptly received a replacement, after they agreed with me that it
was reasonable to expect the device to work for at least three years.

So there I was cleaning the loaner before I return it and what do I spot but the OPV, easily accessible once the water jug has been removed.
As FC has said not my machine so I wouldnt go changing anything but good to know for other owners or potential owners of the Control.
