  • Appartamento vs Domobar Junior + No Appartamento's for sale used

    Hi all
I'm looking at purchasing an entry level HX machine to upgrade from my em7000.
I like the price of the VBM Domobar Junior but i like the look and brand of the rocket appartamento.

Is there a reason no appartamentos are for sale on gumtree or on coffeesnobs? I understand it is a relatively new model but still.

Do you have any recomendations on which to go for with +$250 for the rocket appartamento?

Should I shell out the extra for the Giotto Tipo V? (What is this giotto premium everyone is talking about, an older model?)

Alsp, should I be looking at anything else around the 2.5K mark? Not keen on the nuova

Would love a profitec 500 but too exy.

    Cheers guys! Appreciate the help

What about the ECM Barista? Better price for you?

Does the Bezzera Magica still exist?

May pay to call Casa Espresso about a Izzo Vivi PID. Great build, to me looks nice, and PID with shot timer (will either love it or not care I guess). Antony may be able to get it closer to your $2500 budget.

Bezzzera Magicia no longer being made

You could also look at an Isomac Tea or an Expobar Leva. Personally I would go for the Domobar jr over those, but then I prefer the Rocket over the Domobar. That is just personal preference though. Both the Ticket and Vibiemme have better build quality than the Isomac and Expobar, and that's what you're really paying for. You will probably see this if you check out these machines in the flesh.

          Good luck with the search!

This same question was discussed recently - https://coffeesnobs.com.au/brewing-e...vs-rocket.html

The Vibiemme Domobar Junior was highly recommended a while back but there have been questions raised regarding its long term (5 years +) durability. See reply #20 in link above.

With the large number of these machines sold there is lots of feedback from users on-line. I suppose you need to weigh up feedback v suggestions of in-built design flaws.

The Rocket Appartmento is a newer design from a reputable company so maybe this needs to be taken into account.

Profitec Pro 500 is highly regarded in this category although priced a bit higher. EOFY sales may yield a good deal?

The search function in this forum doesn't seem to give the best results.

After a suggestion posted here some time back I now use Google with "Coffeesnobs + .............."

Now I suppose my main query is rocket appartamento vs giotto tipo V?
My understanding is the giotto tipo v is the equivalent to the giotto premium everyone mentions?

I don't really care about PID, apart from that I can't tell a huge difference.

After I make that decision I will factor in the ECM Barista, Izzo Vivi and ECM mechkanica slim

I think rocket has me hooked though

Thanks mate. I'm thinking of passing on expobar and VBM at the moment due to comments on quality

The ECM Mechanika V Slim seems interesting and is around the right price. It’s fairly new so I haven’t heard much about it on this forum, but there’s a big thread about it on the UK Coffee Forums.

There's no substitute really for getting yourself to a dealer and seeing these machines in action. Too many forum opinions will just confuse you in the end. There are a couple of dealers in the Brisbane area. Google is your friend here.
If I can throw a little known HX machine into the fray, Fracino Cherub. I saw one in use at a car boot sale and was really impressed. At a fraction under 2k and with a dealer in Brisbane, could be worth looking at.

Unfortunately I live pretty far inland central Queensland and don't make it to Brisbane. Definately on the list when i do go though. Thanks
