  • $2000 Budget (Already have grinder)

    Hi all

Had my heart set on the Breville Oracle, but the reviews have put me off a bit, Have $2000 to spend and already have a Grinder. Have had a few machines before ( Grimac Mia - Breville Dual Boiler) Currently using a Aeropress, But someone at work got a new machine and I'm enjoying the "Espresso" again. There is probably a thousand posts regarding best machine for xxxx amount, just after some opinions

    Cheers

Hi mystq, welcome. I have a few questions to help us narrow down our advice.
    What's your current grinder?
    What's your location?
Are you just drinking straight espresso or are your adding milk etc?
What drew you to the Oracle?
Do you just make coffee for yourself or do you regularly have large groups you don't want to keep waiting?

The closest thing to an auto single boiler, won't break down unless you really don't look after it, fairly compact, 58mm group...

Can I suggest a few more around that price range. Easily the Oscar II would be my preference.

          1. Nuova Simonelli Oscar II Coffee Machine

          2. Ascaso Steel DUO PID Coffee Machine

Another one to throw in for your budget, particularly if you are a milk drinker (Latte, Flat White, Cap etc) is the Expobar Office this can be had under 2k and is a very good heat exchanger machine. Not as fashionable as some but very well built and similar in function to a Grimac Mia, but without the E61, although it has a similar style/design group. Not sure what sponsor stock them be I have seen for as low as $1500 brand new.

The other option is to look for a quality well looked after second hand E61 machine in the For Sale thread on CS or elsewhere.

Actually, the Grimac is a very solid machine and worth looking after...

a good grinder makes all the difference. you could be pulling amazing shots with a niche and a $400 silvia and pulling crap shots with a breville smart grinder pro and a la marzocco gs3.

Woodhouse is right on the money, a good grinder will make a world of difference.
