  • Just blew up my Isomac Tea Due... any advice?

Well I was adjusting the pstat as usual (accessible on my machine from the vents at the top). Was using a torch as well to see what I was doing. A moment later, I saw a spark and noticed the main breaker on my house had tripped. Pretty sure the screwdriver bridged one of the pstat contacts with the earth.

All I am thinking was: I am an idiot. I've done this a million times. Why didn't I just turn off the power? Common sense right? I am very lucky and glad I'm OK though.

So now I have a dead Isomac Tea Due. I'm yet to check and replace the fuse - but I am not hopeful that this will fix everything (RIP the wifi switch that the machine was plugged into). What is the likelihood that the controller/heating element/pstat/etc is blown? Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you

If you know for certain the wifi power point is dead, plug the machine into another power point.

If it comes on, everything should be ok. No damage.

But if it trips the breaker, or the breaker doesn't trip but the machine doesn't come on, something will have been damaged in the machine.

Make sure there's a room light on so you will know the breaker has tripped if indeed it does.

You may have bridged to earth without necessarily causing damage.

I was in a rush this morning and didn't realise I flipped back on the mains breaker, but somehow didn't see that the powerpoint breaker needed to be switched back on. Anyhow, the wifi plug is indeed dead but the coffee machine is alive woohoo! Thanks for your help.

I did try and check for a fuse though on the coffee machine but couldn't find one. I looked at the wires that were covered near the boiler but there's no fuse there. Is it possible it's built into the controller? Just trying to make sure it keeps surviving any future stupid accidents haha.
