  • Nuova Simonelli Musica pump keeps running

So my Musica has started misbehaving. As soon as it switches on all lights go on (including the red water level and element lights) then a second later the pump starts and just keeps running with the water going straight out through the expansion (neplax) valve off the group head. If I hit one of the brew (or hot water tap) buttons the solenoid will click open and water will flow through the group head (or tap) as well, but the whole time water is still running at a strong rate out of the expansion valve and into the waste tray.

Is this just a failure of that valve? or is it the boiler fill level probe (I took it out and cleaned it)? Is it likely that if the expansion valve is failing that the water in the boiler simply isn't getting to a high enough level to shut the pump off?

    thanks for any help
    Tim

Sounds like the brew switch is stuck on.. maybe a switch, or a board fault.
I'd start at disconnecting the control panel and seeing if that fixes it.

It's not the boiler fill, as the water isn't overflowing out the boiler.

It seems the switch as the brew solenoid is open also.
The neplax shouldn't be flowing water out, it may be leaking also
