Thanks heaps rooserben, I was secretly hoping to hear that. Be a shame to bin such a beautiful machine.
    I'm in Brisbane.

Definitely don't bin that machine. If the quotes come in too high you an always sell here on CoffeeSnobs and someone will bring it back to life. Even fauty E61 machines are still valuable and worth preserving.

    Whereabouts are you located?

New element, new gasket, new frame, perhaps a little pipework and electrical love. Pay a tech to do it and you might be spending similar money to buy a good condition similar age one, but she'll be pretty good to go.
Thanks level3ninja, good advice. I'll fish around for some quotes, and see what it might cost. Had half a mind to try the clean/element/gasket bit myself, I'll do some more research. Appreciate your expertise, thanks again.

RIP Grimac Mia with leaky boiler?

    Hello friends,

Wondering if there's any saving my Grimac Mia. Was pulling beautiful shots for many many years, until it didn't. Discovered a leaky boiler had completely eroded the element electrical bits (sorry not sure what they're called). And she's generally looking pretty average. I'm unable to post a photo but here's a link https://photos.app.goo.gl/3RSj2AuYFMfARUhE8

Also the chassis has quite a bit of rust damage, but structurally she still holds up (local welder has offered to rebuild from stainless for $150).

It's a lovely machine, copper pipes, solid boiler, e61 group head etc, but I suspect it's finally on its last legs. If it were just a matter of a clean up, new gasket and new element maybe it would be worth doing? I don't know if it's do-able, happy for any comments or thoughts. Can anyone else find any use for old machines like this?

    Thanks all.

Working...
