Hi all,
I sold my Breville Dual Boiler a few months back and been living with my Flair manual press and Bellman for milk since, but getting a little over the somewhat involved manual process. Looking to get a machine back on the kitchen bench. It'll be making a couple of milk based drinks, twice a day plus occasional extras. So that's the brief... Beyond that, something simple enough for my wife to use unsupervised, and thatcthat jump straight from shot pulling to milk texturing is important. Budget is ideally around $1k, but some wiggle room, and plan to keep using Compak K3 grinder for time being.
The BDB ticked a lot of boxes, but the longevity of a European machine is appealing, but at the same time it's a world of options I'm not that familiar with! So just thought I'd throw up some specific options I have come across and get thoughts.
So, the options I'm currently looking at are:
- Expobar Office Control
- Bezzera BZ02
- Rocket Giotto
- Isomac Millennium
- VBM Domobar Super
The first 3 options are trade in machines at a local shop that sells commercial and prosumer machines. Pricing is probably a little overs, particularly on the first two machines, but paying a premium for a machine bought from a reputable, local retailer with all required repairs and servicing done and some after sales care in case of initial issues. Some of these machines are likely 15 years old already - at what point do machines such as these become costly to service and maintain?
My understanding is all machines should be capable of good results, and some look better than others. The Rocket and the VBM are also a little pricier, but possibly worth the extra.
Any advice from those familiar with these machines?
Thanks,
Damien
