  • Bezzera BZ10 anyone?

    Hey guys!
I have just sent our 10 year old Sunbeam Cafe Series in for its final repair and am seriously contemplating a Bezzera BZ10 as an upgrade. It gets great reviews, looks very swanky and the lack of buttons and screens excites me. I feel ready for a fully manual machine (I think! I hope!).

I was wondering if there's anyone out there who has experience with this machine? If so, would you recommend it?

I appreciate any and all advice!!

    Nellie

Hi Nellstar 23, the BZ10 is a fantastic little machine, I have been using one (2nd hand 4 yrs old)

Hi again nellstar23, sorry for the break/ time out computer/mouse problems and possibly a smidge of user error. The BZ10 is a fantastic little machine, I have been using one for 10 months (2nd hand 4 years old vgc). started shifting to NSW in Dec. still not settled ,too much to do, including constructing a coffee station that will house our large coffee machine. The nota doesn't fit so the BZ10 was acquired from the for sale section. And I love it, small fast warm up, levers (hate slow turn knobs) plenty of steam for 3 cups beyond that I don't know. It just works as it should. John

I have a BZ10. Bought second hand from here a couple of years ago now.
Fast warm-up is great and the Bezzera design group is low maintenance.

I've got upgraditis at the moment, but really struggling to justify the upgrade as it makes great coffee.

Keen to get a double boiler of some kind with PID and a rotary pump just to get a quieter machine with more temperature stability and the ability to tweak temperatures.

The BZ10 is on the top of my list. Also have Lelit Elizabeth on the list.

Looking for quick warm up, very low maintenance, small width and pump gauge.

The only feature missing is timed dose, but I don't think there is any other machine similar, that has that as well.

The Lelit Elizabeth is hard to go past at that price point.

If I was buying new I would most likely go for that over the BZ10.

Anyone know of some good reviews of the BZ10 showing lots of details of the internals?

Also with Elizabeth, the WAF is low due to the back not looking very nice (e.g. big ugly stickers) as it will be on bench with its butt facing the main lounge room.

Whole Latte Love have good reviews where they usually cover the internals as well.

What happened to the BZ07, not available anymore?
The version with electronic dosing looks like it would be the perfect machine for me!
I noticed there is also a BZ13 DE PID, but way too expensive in Aus.

Some posts seem to indicate the BZ10 may have some issues adjusting down to 9 bar :-

I think that was the older models as the OPV struggled to get down to 9bar as it was right on the edge of the screw being too loose.

Anything newer will be okay and after a certain point there was supposed to be a 9bar OPV fitted from the factory I believe.

              That's correct,

I think the newer 9bar OPV are stainless valves, where as most of the older pre-2013 models were brass 11bar OPVs.
Believe half way through, they continued the use of the brass 11bar OPV but installed the 9bar kit on it. (still factory preset to 10.5-11bar).

Don't quote me on that though, just based off what I have seen going around.

So sounds like all new machines purchased now days should be OK and be adjustable?

As much as I loved using a BZ10 I had on loan, if you wish to adjust an OPV look to an Expobar/Crem as they have them accessible behind the drip tray for user adjustment. I've dropped mine to 6-bar just today to have a play - it's great if you're trying to get various flavours from certain roasts.
