  • Lelit Mara X all three lights flashing

Hi all very new here and just got my Lelit Mara X delivered 4 days ago. I changed the temperature from 0 to 1 in the front before switching on the machine and have it on espresso mode on the right. Went to pull a shot but when I lifted the lever it does not work and now when I switch the machine on and off —all three lights (2 pilots and power button) is just blinking. Nothing is blocking the water tank and I can’t understand what’s going on. Any ideas? When I pull the lever just a bit of steam comes out. I’m freaking out ?

I don't have a Mara X, but I do have a Lelit. You may need to check in with your supplier.

In the meantime, try removing the tank, making sure that the tubing and resin filter are correctly aligned and installed, and reinstall the tank ensuring correct orientation. The manual indicates that three flashing lights is indicative of the boiler not filling within the expected time.

As a general comment, Lelit (in my observation so far) does not have the same profile in Australia as it does in Europe. You might like to sign up to Coffee Forums UK where there is quite active discussion about the Lelit range.

I did just that, took out the tank and checked if it’s clean, there was some white toothpaste like gunk as per the photo that was in the tube entrance to the machine so cleaned that all up and refilled the tank (correctly) but it’s still not working. Have contacted my supplier so let’s see fingers crossed. It’s just sad coz it’s day 3 and I wasn’t expecting this!

That will be a foodsafe silicone lubricant, maybe too much was applied at the factory. This is usually applied as standard to prevent any leaks from the junction where the tanks seats into the fitting to draw water.

Have you seated the tank fairly firmly as it will click into the receiver fitting snugly? There is an electrical water level sensor linked to the receiver which ties into the brain box of the machine. If not sensing water or the tank attached it will disable the pump and/or heating element.

No idea what that gunk is. Looks like some kind of grease. How it got there is anyone's guess. But I wonder if something has now fowled the pump?

Mine has that gunk there too. I didn't remove it though, now i'm worried I should. Mine is good so far.

If this is the first time you have tried to use it, it might simply be an airlock in the pump. The manual should tell you how to fix it if that is the problem.

I'm not sure if this is the same issue as mine but today after making a coffee I went to do a backflush and no water came out of the grouphead. After turning it on and off again the power pilot light started flashing with the other two off. Each subsequent restart results in it alternating between all 3 lights flashing and the power light flashing. The steps to disable standby mode don't seem to be helping.

I thought I disabled standby after getting it to work again the first time this happened. It worked for a week before doing this again. A couple of videos below showing what I've tried.

Three flashing lights means the boiler didn’t fill in the correct time. This happened when I first used my machine. I removed the water tank and the water softener and then reattached the water softener. I’m assuming there was an airlock.

                Hey everyone,

Unfortunately, I am having the exact same problem as seraphaem with my machine: "After turning it on and off again the power pilot light started flashing with the other two off. Each subsequent restart results in it alternating between all 3 lights flashing and the power light flashing. The steps to disable standby mode don't seem to be helping."

Could you give me any insights on how you fixed it at the end?

                Thank you so much!!

Hi crza, hopefully you've sorted this by now but just in case, this was what I did:

The problem was an airlock relating to the included resin water filter. First time firing it up I forgot to put it in and everything worked fine, then when I installed the filter I got three flashing lights despite following the manual's instructions about purging the filter of air. The way I sorted it in the end was to install the filter underwater, that is when the tank was half-full (outside the machine, of course). It's a while so I can't remember, but for a little bit of air still seen in the in-tank tubing I either wiggled the tube or poked the water inlet at the bottom with my finger until the bubbles had passed and no air was seen in the tubing.

                  Hope this helps.
