  • Expobar Office Control flow meter check

    Hi Technical Gurus,
I have been having issues with programming shot volumes on my Expobar Office Control because the set programs aren't retained. I was told it could be something to do with the flow meter. So I checked it for debris and rotor free movement. All seemed fine. When I turned it on the pump didn't activate. Could I have the tubes the wrong way around? Does the pump tube connect to the top or base of the flow meter? Does it need priming?I should have taken a pic before I took it apart! Novice error!

I just fixed a machine with this exact problem. Although it didn't bother trying to repair, based on a bit of reading and actually fixing the machine. The not saving of volumetrics is caused by a faulty flowmeter or faulty Gicar. In my case I just replaced it and that resolved the problems. As soon as the new flowmeter was fitted I was able to reprogram the single and double shots and it retained the shot volume. Beforehand the LED for the button I programmed was not and when pressed not running any water through the group, I assume this means a fault or it saves 0mls and then did nothing when you pressed the button.

I will have a look on my phone as I took a few photos before removing, I will upload some in another post if I still have them.

The part is pretty cheap, around $50 to replace anyway.

Here is a picture of the old flowmeter with the bottom of the case removed. So roughly vertical with the top of the machine above the top of this picture looking kind of side on at the right side of the machine.

Thanks roosterben. Very helpful. My meter is slightly different but very similar. Does the tube on the right go to the pump or the water tank? Does the OUT - + refer to the wiring connector or the water flow?
I feel a coffee is coming soon!

Not sure, I just took the photo and connected the new one (which was identical) the same way.

All seems good now. Powered up and getting hot for a shot. Will try programming shortly. Not going anywhere with hard lockdowns in place.
