Rancillo S24 tripping the breaker

If it's tripping the breaker it wouldn't be the element resistance from one side of the element to the other, it would be the insulation resistance from the centre wire to the casing of the element. Also curious if it's tripping a circuit breaker or residual current breaker.

I checked the element with a meter and it checks out ok not shorted, not open just about the right amount of resistance
Im just going to clean it and put it back together, if it still trips the breaker then I will try bypassing the thermostat and see

There is a fair amount of scale, you need some decent water filtration. One of the photos looks to be the element saver. Do you have a multi meter?

I moved this thread, the one we're posting in, from the Midrange forum to the Pointy End one. If you look in that forum you'll see the shortcut, which will expire in 2 days, to this thread that was put in place when I moved it here. Equipment is placed in the category based on it's original manufacturer's list price regardless of what it sold for later.Originally posted by C-man View PostThanks Java
could you direct me to where you moved it and where I should be posting?
Cheers!

The bit outside collects moisture....
The element has a powder inside, surrounding the inner wire that can collect moisture. It's normally capped pretty well.

My first thought was element when it did this about 6 months ago, I took off all the covers and baked it in the sun for a few days, after that it worked again.
My machine lives outside (under cover) so it absorbs moisture somewhere I would guess?
My Question is----What part would me most likely to absorb moisture?
