I have a VBM Junior HX, running a Puretec underbench filter. I go through 2 kg of beans every 3 weeks, 5 to 6 coffees a day. I backwash after every coffee, use a grouphead brush after the last coffee of the day. Take a cup of water most days from the boiler to minimise mineral build up in the boiler. Chemical clean the group head and portafilters at the beginning of each month and lube the various grouphead components at the same time. I also take the covers off to check for any issues e.g leaks. No issues after 3 1/2 years.

    This is great advice.
    Not a HX but..
I had my water tested and fitted a filter system when I first got the machine.
I just gave my DB its first home “service” after 6 months of use, 3-4 cups a day.
I lubed the E61 group and the Flow control valve.(recommended every 3 months for the FCV).
The mushroom was like new and a wipe with a cloth had it shining like a mirror.
I backflush with water most days and a tiny bit of coffee cleaner once a month.
Based on this I wont descale for at least another 6 months and I’ll probably pop an inspection camera in the boilers before I even do that.

For me personally its in simplest form, chemical backflush every 6 weeks, and grinder cleaner (Cafetto) every 3 weeks.

Not a high volume user, 10 coffees a week.

    Maintenance Schedule

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a maintenance/service schedule on a HX machine. Keen to DIY most of the servicing except the more technical elements.
