Thanks, will order a new pump and put it ini and see what happens.

Looks like you will need to pursue the possibilities posed by 'ninja above...

That is a standard circuit breaker, with no earth leakage. It only trips for circuit overload over 20A relative to the C shaped trip curve. Explanations (listed in order of likelihood) are that the circuit is already very close to tripping and the pump nudges it over the edge, or when the pump loads up its current draw spikes, or the circuit breaker is faulty and tripping when it should not trip. A competent electrician will be able to diagnose further quite readily, especially if it happens every time.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to everybody, machine was disconnected and not plumbed.

Have re-connected and tested again and there is no visible leaks during pump operation. So it is unlikely a short due to water leakage..

    Thanks, Rob

Yes it is pretty old, has metal riveted ID plate on front instead of sticker, so before 2006 I think that means. It was restored by my good friend Simon here on coffee snobs not long ago and I had a careful look inside last time, no leaks visible.

But will open her up again tomorrow to double check those hoses.

    Thanks, good thought.

Thanks Lovey, sorry got your Name/ID wrong. Good question, it is actually the C20 MCB, Micro Circuit Breaker that flips not the safety switch. Sorry, I had never really looked at all the switches that closely before.

Sorry to be as pest with the questions, but is it the circuit breaker (the one marked as C20) or the safety switch (as marked) that is tripping, as at different times you've mentioned both are tripping?

Just a random thought here of one possibility - if it only trips when the pump loads up - the BZ99 has a couple of opv return hoses (depending on model, age etc) when those open up, excess water is diverted back to the tank - check the clear silicon hoses are not split, they usually split near the end brass piece . If they leak and water could be leaking onto solenoids etc, so it would only trip when opv opens, but not during free flow . I had it happen once....

Thanks Lovely, yes it is the first one of the three power circuit switches shown in the image of more of the actual switches.

From memory nothing else significant is running on the circuit, just the fridge and wireless modem/router. It never used to be a problem and it does trip the safety switch each time the pump loads up. We can run the pump as long as we like with no load, no problem.

Thanks level3ninja, yes that is the power circuit breaker that trips, I will post a bigger image.

Thanks for the reply Javaphile, the pump is a vibe pump and the main power safety switch is a Hager NS 120 C20, can't find anything online about which type it is.

Is the safety switch an overload protection or ground fault protection switch? Rotary pump or vibe pump?
