I was wondering if any Technika/Mechanika IV Profi circa 2017 (non-PID) owners could share their boiler pressure readings?
For some background my gauge has always hovered in the range of 1.4-1.6 bar, but recently this has crept up to about 1.75bar due to the gauge not returning to zero.
I attempted to order a new gauge from a site sponsor and they sent me one with a scratched face and overall a very second hand looking part. On top of this their communication was a little lacklustre, so it has since been returned and refund received.
Knowing that WIKA gauges are of a reasonable quality I ordered one direct from them to test the boiler pressure and discovered that the boiler is idling at 1.3-1.5 bar which by all accounts is a bit high. The group head idles at 100ish degrees and it requires a decent cooling flush to get down to brewing temp.
I also pulled apart my old gauge and have bent one of the links to return the needle to the zero position. It still reads higher than the WIKA, but I can live with that.
My next step is to play with the boiler pressure, but before I do it would be helpful to know what other owners have their machines idling at.
