  • Rocket Giotto Board Issue

Grab a coffee - this could be a long post!

I have a 2007 Rocket Giotto. I bought it second hand and I love it to bits - but right now it is in the workshop and I have a dilemma!

I had a problem with the machine about 2 years ago - would not build pressure. Took it the workshop (they are probably the biggest espresso workshop in Perth). It needed a new board and because of its age it needed re-wiring - ok. Got it home all good. Three months later - same problem! Took it back and they replaced the bird for free under warrenty.

less than a year later - same issue! Took it back - they said the board was stuffed! Replaced it again (I had to not for that one). They told me it was probably a power issue at my house. I purchase an expensive surge protection board and only plugged the rocket into it….

guess what - another 9 or so months later - no pressure. Back to the shop - same issue! Again I paid for another board (I know - idiot…).

anout two weeks ago the machine was struggling to build pressure and making a clicking sound. Sounded to me like a faulty pressure regulator. Then it started to over pressure (2.5bar!) with steam pouring out.

back to the shop - replace the tank full sensor and the pressure switch - all good. Got it home - turned it on and it it went straight to 2.5 bar and steam coming out…

back to the shop - they test everything and tell me the bird is stuffed - $@#% me…..

so what do I do? Walk away from the machine? Get it fixed again…

I sure would appreciate some advice.

    thanks

    WCC.

I'd get a sparky to monitor the line voltage of your mains supply over a few days, to see if there is anything strange going on. Once you have that info, you'll be in a position to make the appropriate decision to rectify matters, what ever that might be...

Just curious - did you ever manage to get to the bottom of this? Thanks!
