Just loving this machine, for the first time (at home) I can actually experience the tasting notes that they put on the bag. Stoked!

At the moment I am only making one at a time, but you do raise an interesting point. No intention for now, but I could strap a thermocouple onto the side and at least watch the variability, it wont give me the right value but will show consistency.Originally posted by mutualclock View PostGreat looking machine. Flow control kits can be really worthwhile if you are OK to play around a bit. I've had a couple of them. My favourite brand to date is "My Arm". I use it all the time on the direct lever machine. The best thing about it is that it's free. Came with "My Body" :-;

Sorry, I meant it can be kitted with flow control later on if I want to go down that path. For now I am just happy with the machine as is and I will see if I want to do that upgrade later on.Originally posted by crazyhakins View PostDidn't you say it had flow control? Where is it?
That is a nice machine. I have the P500 and have never regretted it. Doesn't mean I haven't considered upgrading!

Day 1:
Unpacked the machine after work, well built, nice tamper (not sure how I feel about it yet), coming from 51mm portafilter on the La Pavoni so have to get used to the 58mm again. Well packeged machine and everything feels solid. It looks really nice on the counter! Cleaned the water container which should have had a handle but I will probably just use a jug. Primed the machine with water, did the flush as recommended. Pumping into the boiler and the brew pump is actually really quiet considering that it is a vibe pump, which is good with a newborn. Couldnt make a brew as the baby was sleeping and I would like to sleep as well. It is a major step up from my old machine in terms of quality.
Day 2:
Worked from home so got to play. I normally leave at around 0530 so normally have junk work coffee. Hauled a fresh roasted bag of Grouch and Co Sparky. First shot was a bit choked and took longer than it probably should have. Dumped it and dialed the Eureka Mignon back a bit. I did see that the machine is very sensitive to grind size. I did weigh and single dose to keep some parameters the same. Did 17.5g which seemed to top out the double basket. Was too coarse and sour! Had to severly change my milk technique. Second shot was better mid morning but milk still lacking. 3rd shot during lunch was much better, a very different taste to the old lever. Got microfoam so a bit happier. I am 70% there. All fine tuning from here.
Very happy with the machine so far. Have not turned on the pre infusion and the temperature was set to the middle (94degC ?) but will get the basics right and then start changing those.

I was actually in Jetblack Espresso on Saturday, they had one on display. Very nice looking machine. Solid build.
Will be keeping an eye out for your experiences with it and other reviews.
