    Hi,

I have been using the Expobar Minore IV dual boiler since mid-2014. We are a 4-6 cup a day household maybe occasionally more if friends pop over. After 8 years I still love the Minore. In 8 years I have replaced the vibration pump once and the OPV, I replaced the PID when one LED stopped working and replaced the group head pressure valve when it siezed. Apart from that I get an annual service just to keep it lubed, scale free and working in top condition. I'm in Adelaide so the hard water here is tough on the boilers. For the first 6 years we used unfiltered water but now I have a filter to reduce the solids coming out of the tap. In my experience you would get years of service, and cafe quality coffee, from the Expobar. There is nothing about it I wish was different. The E61 group is easy to get parts for, it heats up quickly and gets back to brew temperatue so you can just keep pumping out coffee after coffee if you want. Plenty of steam pressure. Stainless steel is easy to clean, water reserve is more than enough and can be refilled any time. And it looks good!

I think in your search might be worth looking for E61 machines, which is what you have highlighted, not lever machines. Mainly so you see all options. A lever machine usually has a big lever on it, like below. Good luck in your search, I am sure you will get plenty of opinions.

Exobar Minore IV PID or Magister Stella PID Pro

    G’day all,

Looking for a decent quality and priced lever machine, I can get both of these for around $2-2.5k. I’m leaning toward the Exobar given it’s dual boiler but don’t know much about either brand in terms of reliability or quality. It’s for home use 2-3 cups a day usually. I want something that’s going to last. Any opinions/reviews or other recommendations at this price point?

    thanks!
