Okay, so here's the answer to my own question. When a new machine is first turned on in the factory, the computer automatically on first time boot runs a very extended pour that goes for a minute or more.

Somehow my machine had got itself into that never-turned-on-before state. I have no idea how. But that was the answer.

Lelit Kate water pours immediately when turned on

Suddenly, for no obvious reason, my Lelit Kate has taken to doing a non-stop pour the moment the machine is turned on. It seems to start normally, the LCC gives the version number, and then the pour begins...and never stops. All three left hand buttons go unlit when the pour begins. Pressing the pour button does not do anything.

I have factory reset any number of times by holding the + and turning it on. LCC says preset done. Going into the advanced service settings I see they are all default.

If I let the machine run out of water it correctly sees no more water and stops with the correct warning on LCC. If I put more water in the tank the non-stop pour recommences.

Has anyone ever seen this before?
