  • compak k3 touch

Hi all, first post on this site. Just got a compak k3 touch grinder. I have limited experience with grinders, chose this one because it had the features I decided I needed after doing some research and it seemed very good value ( also seemed to be reasonably upgrade proof for a while at least). Im interested in hearing from others who have these or have used them. am geting some clumping at times, but I guess thats because Im grinding a little fine. Im using it with a nuova simonelli oscar. Variable results so far, but most of that is due to my own lack of consistency I think.

    Hi Brisbane 49

"Welcome to Coffee Snobs," I owen a K3 Touch myself and find it to be a great grinder I dont have trouble with clumping but Ido use a spatuar as I grind. As fore grinding to fine it can cause clumping but if that is your setting for your machine use some thing to spred as you grind...

Humidity can cause this too and we have plenty of that here in Queensland..

    Cheers Gra

        Re: compak k3 touch

Clumping seems to be almost a fact of life for doserless grinders. As long as the clumps are soft they seem to squash upon tamping and dont affect the pour. I get large soft clumps with my Macap M4D.

Its the taste thats important. Check for channelling in the puck and if its all OK, then its all OK.

I also get large soft clumps at times depending on the beans I am grinding and the temp & humidity (live in North Queensland). I find that a couple of taps on the tamping mat with the portafilter normally takes care of most of it. No channelling.
