What does people think about this mazzer mod? I found it on the web this morning.
    Here is the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/elvin/sets/72157605144154794/

Does this mod work with mazzer mini?

    Tony.

    Re: Mazzer mod

I think this will definitely work on pretty much any Mazzer doser. I think I have to give it a go on the mini when I get home to BNE.

Quite a novel variation but Id be worried about grounds getting caught inside.

It would be easier to place a spout made of aluminium or a thin sheet metal using the two screws on the outside of the doser.
Then you dont even need to take it apart and theres no chance of grinds getting caught.

If you go to his site to download the template he even admits its prone to clogging and theres an alternate shape.

          Re: Mazzer mod

You need something thicker than a coke can.
Ive been told you can find something at Bunnings.
What Ive seen is about 1mm thick.

Have a look at the pictures in this old thread http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?num=1169720281/25#25

                    Re: Mazzer mod

Its aluminium plate she said you can buy from Bunnings.
From memory it would be about 1mm thick.

It should be easy to work.
Two holes in the top corners to screw onto a Mazzer or Macap and two cuts at the level of the bottom of the doser.
Bend the metal, at the cuts under the doser, and voila, you have a spout.

                      Re: Mazzer mod

looking at the outlet on my super jolly, I imagine you could make the spout bolt insode the outlet rather than the outside to make it look nicer. I am just getting used to my super jolly, and am making a bit of mess. Ill give it a few months, but if I am still making a mess I think I may do one of these.

                          Tin snips will do it

Tony you need to make a small cone its very easy once you know how to, but you need a drafting set [compass, rule, square and pencil] . Your best bet may be to use a small funnel and cut it down so it fits under the doser hole and above the porta filter. You can cut the plastic so that it can attach to the screw on the outside of the doser.
I could draw you a template but I dont have a compass at home and my dividers are at work [which is closed untill the 12 jan]
