    Rocky & Silva, Perfect couple.

I still have Rocky, only reason I upgraded Silvia was because I had money bags lying around.

Be very carful to keep the boiler primed. Can blow the element very easily if the boiler runs dry. About $300 to replace >

Welcome to CS Jayman, you could do a lot worse than looking at a Rocky/Silvia combo. Check out the link below for reviews on a vast range of grinders-

The Rocky gets a pretty good writeup for the price bracket. There was a mention of the Ascaso I3 mini but I havent seen many comments regarding these on CS.

Any thoughts on this grinder ?
I cant comment on the Asasco I3 but Ive owned a Rocky and it was a great grinder, theres a couple of easy mods to make it stepless and firm up the top burr carrier. The only reason I went to the Mazzer was the generosity of KRudd and his handout, "thanks Kev!!".
Thank again Greenman. Ive done some more investigation and I think I will be pretty happy with the Silvia and Rocky combo.
Im currently waiting on my Rudd Bucks to arrive before I find a good dealer here in Melbourne.

This combo is very common, i have no direct experience with either unit but from the posts i have read there are many happy CSrs using these.

    First real coffee grinder

    Hi everyone,

This is my first post. I discovered the CS web site after visiting Wicked Sunday in Melbourne a few months ago, where I spent a fair bit of time talking to Reuben roasting in his breadmaker.  Mmmm, the smell.

Ive been looking at coffee equipment for a while but havent taken the plunge.

After looking through the web site and doing some general research, Im beginning to think a Doserless Rocky and a Silvia would be the way to go. (I think I can stretch the budget that far).

Starting with a grinder, are there any better alternatives to a Doserless Rocky, considering the pricepoint Im looking at ?

    Many thanks,
                      Jayman.
Working...
