Looking to upgrade from my Compak k5. I have read many reviews and opinions of commercial grinders and the more i read the more undecided i am. Too much choice sometimes. Thats why i am putting it out there to proffessional Cafe owners if they could tell me which grinder works for them. The K5 has been a good grinder for my first grinder but i find it noisy and id prefer a stepless as these seem to be more accurate from what i have read. I only do about 5-7 kilos a week and my budget is $1000 - $1500. Would consider second hand. Thanks in advance

    Hi Greg,

Id suggest Mazzer SJ/Major or perhaps a K6/K8 Silenzio....There are great Macap grinders as well with the MX and M7 both being well within budget.  New will give you GST savings and you might/should also qualify for the 30% tax rebate on capital investment? This would bring the Macap and Compak conicals close to your budget and may be a better option than pre-loved.

I guess the ultimate choice will come down to how much you plan to grow your coffee business.

Thanks 2mcm. Ill investigate those you recommended. Yes new would be the go to take advantage of the rebate. I am happy with the current growth of my business at 4 days a week and just myself as sole employee. Household duties and with the wife working nights and 2 boys to support limits me to grow any further at present.
