I called MYER and they refunded the extended warranty, which was nice of them after the sale, even though a coffee shop would never have sold the extended wty anyway. Guess thats the downside to dealing with a box pusher.
Not entirely sure if they are sold in coffee shops mate or just department/appliance stores.

Glad to hear you got your money back anyway.

I am mechanically minded, so if anything minor does happen, I am sure I can fix it. And I will probably void the warranty myself anyway.

If anyone is looking for a EM480, Myer is selling them at $189 for the next few days.

    Thanks, James.

We didnt take up the option for the very reason you state - the motor is covered for 5...

    Chris
    I was the same...

Miss use is about the only thing likely to go wrong after 12months..

    AND that aint covered...

If the motor eas to burn out... I would question WHY..  Grunty little beast, but they do fail and the 5 Years thing is worth while...

Burrs and other bits are consumables etc etc

IF you break a switch or need a washer ... They are a few cents and or a post away from obtaining..

If your not into the mechanics and  coffee stuff, think of it as piece of mind.....  And the fact that the Salesperson did his/her job to up sell... You want frys with that ?

    Sunbeam EM0480 - extended wty

My wife picked up a Sunbeam EM0480 grinder up for me from Myer today on sale at $189. They stung her for an extra 2 year warranty, taking it from 1 year to 3. Now, from what I understood, the motor on the 480 has a 5year warranty (vs 12 months for the 450). Is there anything elese that is warrantable that would benefit from the extra 2year warranty (year 2 and 3) excluding the already covered motor?

Normally, I think extended warraties are a waste, but you guys are the experts.

    what say you.
Working...
