Reviving the old thread... Anyone know where I could get a spare flap for the grinder. Mine got broken when I was cleaning the grinder, and I am finding coffee in places (inside the grinder) where it probably shouldn't be.

Re: Compak K3 touch - rubber flap in chute???
One more follow up - The rubber flap can be removed by allan key when the machine is taken apart for cleaning.
I have left it there as I am happy with the grinders performance and dont know exactly the effect of the removal.....

Re: Compak K3 touch - rubber flap in chute???
Just a follow up - After 6 months with this grinder I can report i am perfectly happy with it. It is very consistant and the rubber flap isnot a problem at all. In fact, it does a great job at breaking up the grinds. The grind is "clump-free.
This grinder is MASSIVE improvememt over the Sunbeam em6900. Without having a doser to clean, etc, I would call it a perfect home grinder.

Its difficult to get a picture as its hidden at start of the chute. It is clear, flexible plastc (about 2mm thick).

I dont know what the plastic thing looks like.Originally posted by 447561786D202420140 link=1245804167/2#2 date=1245886769Has anyone tried removing the plastic insert to see if this makes the chute easier to clean?
Any pictures?
The Macap had a guard which I removed a long time ago and that made it easier to clean the chute.

Re: Compak K3 touch - rubber flap in chute???
Hi Pauly,
Mine grinds for six seconds on the minimum setting. I load the hopper with the amount I need for a double shot, that way there is no excess grinding no matter how many cycles of six seconds I use.
I just have to be careful I dont double touch the sensor which then gives a twelve second grind
Not quite as convenient as the EM0480 but not a bad approach

Re: Compak K3 touch - rubber flap in chute???
I recently changed from a EM0480 to the K3 touch. The K3 is definitely in another class.
The auto setting works for me. I touch the portafilter on the sensor, let it grind for about 4 seconds (minimum time), break up clumps with a needle, then repeat a few times until full and level. I tap this down on the bench then fill again and tamp. There is no mess. I dont drop a single particle.
The only problem I have with it is the amount of coffee trapped in the chute.
Has anyone tried removing the plastic insert to see if this makes the chute easier to clean?

Re: Compak K3 touch - rubber flap in chute???
My k3 touch is the same I think it was put there in the latest model to breakup the grinds as they exit the chute. I heard the previous model would produce bars of coffee without it. It needs a redesign in the next model I think because it is a coffee trap.

Compak K3 touch - rubber flap in chute???
Has anyone noticed the small clear rubber flap inside the very start of the chute of the K3 Touch?
I noticed mine when new but after grinding it gets covered over. You need to clean out all the grinds to get see it.
Is this supposed to be there? It seems to block escape of grinds and trap old grinds at the start of the chute. Also, the chute is difficult to clean.
I have a theory that maybe it is there to make the grind come out in clumps instead of spraying everywhere.
Any ideas?
Has anyone tried removing this rubber?
