hey guys....have looked up two grinders. Would like to know what your peoples view are on the sunbean em0480 or the Iberital Challenge. btw....i have a em0610.
Hi anu,
The 0480 is fairly big, noisy and messy compared with the Rancilio Rocky which I use. It is about the minimum standard of grinder for espresso. I bought one for my son to use with a plunger and an Aeropress and its fine for that.
Im not familiar with the Iberital, but from what Ive read it would appear to be the better choice.
I bought an Iberital MC2 when I was in Britain, which I think is the same as a Challenge. Compared to a Mazzer Mini, its noisy, and not as good a grinder. My impression is that it is a better grinder than the Sunbeam, but never been able to compare. It certainly is capable of grinding for espresso (Im keeping mine as the roadtrip grinder).
I was in the same boat as you about 6 months ago. At first I had an em0480, but within one month of having it, it was sold and I upgraded to a Mazzer Mini. Im not sure of your budget but my suggestion would be to save the extra few $$$.cc and look at something like a Mazzer. They can be picked up brand new for less the seven hundred, I cant say where on here, but if you PM me I will be more than happy to share.

I dont remember having a different name...oh wait, someone else has just done the exact same thing I did
i believe the sunbeam and iberital share a similar burr set, but the iberital will allow much much much finer increments in terms of grind coarseness. id get it for that, but also be aware that changing from espresso grind to french press WILL give you serious RSI....
