  • Assistance with grinder choice

I am not sure if this is correct what I am doing but I need help about a grinder.
I purchased a Isomac grinder which seems to have fallen apart within 18 months it is a bit small for getting your grind done correctly although I use Isomac Millenimum which is a great coffee machine but the grinder does not seem that good.
I have perfected the frothing now but I need a new grinder and I am not sure where to start.

I only make 4 cups of coffee a day unless I have family staying then there is about 10 a day so it does change quite a bit depending on who is staying here.

I would like a good grinder that will last for quite a while did not want to pay more then $500 unless the coffee grinder is really good might consider a bit more if it is a really good one.

So could you please help me on a good grinder or what you think is the best one to use for the house - I am very fussy with my coffee and I like tgo produce it as good as you get in any cafe.

    thanks
    Robyn

    Re: Assistance with grinder choice

    Welcome Robyn

For your class of espresso machine, you are probably better off going for a grinder of $600 or more. The Compak K3 is apprarently very good and great value for money. Some good specials on these at the moment.

The number of coffees you make per day isnt a huge factor in the decision. I would be aiming for a Mazzer Mini or Macap M4 or M5. These would easily keep up with you higher demand occasions.

Go visit some sponsors to check out what they have and chat with them. But u can never go past the mazzer mini!! The thing you need toremember is that u need quality not just quantity, for your high quality machine you need a maching high quality machine. If you spend a little extra now you wont need to upgarde later and will have far better ground coffee!!. There are specials on a lot of grinders at the moment tohave a look around and make the most of it!! i

Hi Robyn, minimum probably a Rancilio Rocky around $420, then up to K3, Macap, Mazzer Mini etc ranging from $600-800.
I had a Rocky and it is a great grinder, Ive just gone up to Mazzer Mini thanks to KRudd kind donation, the stepless adjustment on the Mazzer is great and the doser breaks up any clumping.
Get the best grinder you can afford, theres heaps of posts on grinder pros and cons if you search through previous posts in grinder section.
          Good luck gm

            Compak K3T for doserless
            Mazzer Mini for dosered

I wanted a doser (chamber in front with the flicky thing), and am very happy with the mazzer. doserless (grinds straight into the filter basket) is sometimes preferred, and the K3T is a great grinder at a damn good price. Thats a nice coffee machine youve got, better than mine unfortunately! Youll find you get better results with a better grinder, as the adjustments are finer and the grinder is more consistent. It also feels better having such a solid grinder to use.
