    Re: Grindz Grinder Cleaner

    No never used grindz
I pull my grinder apart and lightly brush & vacuum, clean & wipe
Its easy to do and does not take to much time to do

Its also an opportunity to inspect the grinding burrs/plates

+1 With KK at first I thought about getting some Grindz, but tried just opening everything up and cleaning with a brush and vacuum, its fun too. It doesnt take long either

I also got Compressed Air (Dick Smiths) in a can but havent used that yet. Not sure if I should...

        Hi lads,

I reckon Grindz is ok between cleans. Use it with your grinder set coarse. It wont get everything though, so its worthwhile pulling the burrs say every 6 months with grinds 2 monthly??

Andreas, Id stay away from compressed air. Its a good way of pushing coffee grinds into places they shouldnt go.

        regards

        Chris

I bought some Grindz but havent used it.  I found it very easy just to remove the top burr and brush out the muck

Its amazing how small beans can get really stuck down there.  I doubt that Grindz would move them

Or get stuck in there too? Or perhaps end up in your coffee? Much safer just to get a vacuum cleaner and a dedicated paint brush.

                Re: Grindz Grinder Cleaner

OK, I use the vacuum cleaner and paint brush (and the Mazzer sweeper mod). I try to keep the grinder as clean as possible. I tried out some Grindz a few weeks ago - after vacuuming and brushing. I was surprised the amount of grinds that were trapped and spat out with the Grindz.

It definitely works. The downside is that you get Grindz residue left behind. I vacuumed and brushed again but the first two grinds were still tainted with Grindz. I dont having to waste several shots worth of beans just to prime the grinder. I suppose you could use old beans.

I havent tried disassembling but Im sure there are people of this forum who would rather not.
