Re: Fiorenzato F5 vs Rocky
Yes, they are one and the same! 64mm burrs and from memory a 61mm throat size for the hopper. Ill have to check this however. They dont have the safety switch hopper assembly inherent in the recent mazzers.

Re: Fiorenzato F5 vs Rocky
I know Im resurecting this as an old thread but I have a question about this grinder...
I can get Saeco at a very good price and have read that the Saeco Ulisse is actually an F5. Can anyone confirm this? Im already planning my next upgrade (which may occur a year early if I can get a really sweet deal on the grinder lol).

Re: Fiorenzato F5 vs Rocky
Have you checked the size of the hoppers throat?
It may help me choose if its good for me, thanks

Re: Fiorenzato F5 vs Rocky
Measure the throat size - IIRC it fits a Mazzer Mini hopper, not sure where I read that though.

Re: Fiorenzato F5 vs Rocky
The F5 is a great grinder.... 8-)
It mightnt have the pizzazz of chromed/polished Mazzers or Macaps, etc but it has quality where it counts. For my money, it almost looks identical to a Mazzer SJ, even the Doser so who knows, you may actually have a Mazzer Super Jolly by another name....

Re: Fiorenzato F5 vs Rocky
I have the Mazzer mini with the small hopper and it is about an inch and a half taller than my Expobar.
I usually keep the hopper in a click clack air tight container in the cupboard with the beans in it and just put my blind filter (it is good fit) over the throat of the grinder to keep stuff out, this makes it shorter than the machine by quite a bit.

Re: Fiorenzato F5 vs Rocky
My Mazzer Major grinder towers over my machine
And the Macap M4D is on par on height
If you live close to the inner south you could go to Barazi or VenezianoOriginally posted by 6A6B627B766B6A7A0E0 link=1252470665/4#4 date=1252473054Can anyone suggest a place to take it in Brisbane?
Or Di Bella in Bowen Hills

Re: Fiorenzato F5 vs Rocky
Most decent grinders are quite "impressive" in person. ;D
Definitely go for a smaller hopper. If you only grind small domestic quantities and are a bit handy, a search of this site will give you some ideas about how easy it is to make very small hoppers that will hold around 100 gms of beans, and reduce the visual impact of the grinder substantially.

Re: Fiorenzato F5 vs Rocky
;D Its very simple really.
1. Make him/her the most amazing coffee they have ever had using this equipment.
2. Tell him or her that it will taste crap with a smaller grinder. Also convince them that the big grinder will be especially useful when you entertain.
good luck.

Re: Fiorenzato F5 vs Rocky
Thanks heaps guys - I will consider. The grinder is probably 6 months old, I dont think the doser is working properly but that just may be me no knowing how to operate it. Can anyone suggest a place to take it in Brisbane? I might look into the smaller hopper option although the sheer bulk of it is what is a attracting the most grief off my fiancé at the moment! (Espescially as we have gone from a small Sunbeam machine to this combo!)

Hi and welcome DanOriginally posted by 7A7B726B667B7A6A1E0 link=1252470665/0#0 date=1252470665Hi guys,
Awesome website. Have learned a heap. Recently I came across a deal for a Expobar Office Lever and Fiorenzato F5 automatic grinder that was too good to pass up. Now after doing some research, it appears the Expobar is well worth holding on to but I am not so sure about the grinder, it seems to work well but it is too big for the kitchen bench. Would I be taking a step back by offloading it and putting the proceeds towards a Rocky instead? Id appreciate any feedback.
Dan
Ask if a smaller hopper is available for a better fit

Re: Fiorenzato F5 vs Rocky
P.S. Depending on how old it is the Fiorenzato F5 is a very nice grinder and some people would see it as an upgrade from a Mazzer mini or Compak K3. If you ask around on here someone might be happy to do a simple swap.

Re: Fiorenzato F5 vs Rocky
You would be taking a step back if you swapped for a rocky. If you want something smaller then look at Compak K3, Mazzer Mini, or Macap M5 otherwise perhaps the Fiorenzato might grow on you.
