  • Choose a $300 Grinder

    Hi all,

First post here and new to coffee. Just bought a 08 Silvia couple of months ago, and want to match it up with a grinder now.

My budget is around $300 mark. After a little reserch myself, now its down to Isomac Professionale and Iberital Challenge doserless. Just want to get some opinions from you guys on which one is better in value and match up with my Silvia better. Or please give me some advice if there are other better choices within my budget.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Glau,

The grinders mentioned are pretty much appliance class for mine. I have always thought it ironic that a company would call a grinder that no professional would touch with a barge pole, the professionale? :-? Noisy, very slow and you will ultimately replace either. Keep an eye out here http://coffeesnobs.com.au/YaBB.pl?board=Sale for a Rancilio Rocky. They appear quite frequently and are far better.

CS Rule #1 Buy the best grinder you can possibly afford.

    Good luck...

Second hand Rockys go for around $300 mark and are a very solid piece of kit.

The Cunill Tranquilo is worth considering. I have not used one but have ready fairly good reviews of them. Probably closer in quality to the Rocky than Lux/Challenge/Professionale. Price variation is huge, anywhere from $250-$400+ new.

Well sounds like there is now 2 ppl hunting down 2-hands Rockys

u wont regret it. Due to there big brothers DNA /parts they r not only a solid unit and as said 2-hand units go for around ur price

              Kyocera/Hario hand grinder?

alternatively, you could save for something decent.
