Sunbeam replaced it with a new one for me this morning.

I will be selling this however as I want to get a better grinder.

Will list in the classifieds section.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Either way, I wont be keeping it - its let me down once too many times. Having a dead grinder on a public holiday when I cant buy a replacement is a stark reminder that you get what you pay for.

If anyone knows of anywhere in Sydney that is open today where I could buy a decent grinder, let me know. A rocky is an obvious choice.

My Sunbeam EM0480 started to make some strange noises today - like the revs of a car slowing down before it finally stalls...and then it just stopped.

I opened it up, unblocked any coffee that was in and around the burr and the shaft itself, but nothing - dead as a doornail.

Does anyone know where Sunbeam are likely to replace it for me or will I they send it away to be repaired?

To be honest I wont be keeping it either way. I really think its piece of cheap plastic rubbish and makes a hell of a mess, but I would like to recoup some of my money on ebay (or on CS).

    Thanks tony
If it is the Motor.. Then I believe it is covered for greater than 2 years...

I have not yet seen  or heard of one failing...  But its an electronic piece of equipment and NO manufacturer is  100%.

In addition, if the bean hopper is not in correctly it can cause all sorts of problems as it manages teh safety interlock..

Just be aware...  That I have seen one example where A stone/piece of metal got caught and that did cause some damage and  the motor stooped..   Thought that may have been a over current protecting but the owner was a Forum hit and run and never returned to explain what happened...

If a straight fail, then SB will replace...  If a stone or other item has caused the problem ?????

It really is a shame Sunbeam didnt put a tiny bit more effort into this grinder. If it had metal burr carriers and better QA Im sure people would pay an extra $100 for it.
Actually they needed a 3rd model with the extra issue of burr carriers... Thus a 0480 and 0450 and 0490 (I wish)

Other wise it puts it up into the Rocky ball park in the $$$ values. AT $150 - $190 it is ideally placed in teh market...

Take it back to the retailer ASAP and have it exchanged
They will deal with the return paperwork
