Looks German and old. I love the look, but what about the function?

Ok, so I bought it, on a punt, silly me!
        Well its A GEM!
A beautiful, stylish, heavy, quiet, smooth, piece of precision machinery.
It was very dirty, but cleaned up like a dream.
It was in a restaurant that a family bought and the kids thought it looked too old school for their trendy establishment, so now it has a new home.
It, however, remains a mystery. Google and it thinks Favorite means I like it a lot and no info comes up at all.
The Grob and Fein on the dial suggests German, no other data helps.
Anyone have any suggestions as to how to track down the maker etc?

Its German made about 40 years ago by Karl A. Zwanger GmbH. If you Google Zwanger "Original Favorite" you will get a few hits. Most are in German but you can use the Translate link to get a rough translation (unless you can read German) .

          For example, try this link

Looks to be built like a tank, very impressive, buying burrs could be a little tricky.
My first thought was it would look fantastic if you stripped it down and had it powder coated to the colour of your choice.

Re: "Favorite" brand, anyone heard of them?

Hows the coffee? Well its a work in progress. I am struggling to adjust the grind, I can get it to go finer, but not coarser. So I demolished the adjuster knob etc to find a tiny roller bearing in there seized (YPL R5). I freed it but will get a new one next week. So now the adjuster works very well, but the burrs are not sliding in and out like I assume they should. Id assume they too are sticky. They go round just fine but not in and out.
Im not as yet having any luck getting the burrs out, caution is need, I sure dont want to break anything!
Simon, Id say you can help here....
                    http://www.coffeebeans.de/kaffee/favorite.html
From what I can get out of that page the burr slides off the centre shaft. (thats what the little orange arrow is saying, yes?)
I have removed the little red fillet that sits in the main screwdriver slot and can get screwdrivers #1 on the shaft and #2 in underneath to try to lever the burr out, no luck though.
Looking @ where screwdriver #1 goes the inner and outer slots are at present aligned, I see in the photo they are not. Is that threaded, or an interference fit?
Whats that green thing with the smiley face?
I cant see any space for screwdriver#3 to go at all? All tight tolerances there.
Actually my missus just made a brew, my levering/fiddling has made the grind go coarser, everything must be gooed up with 40 years of grinds! Mmmmm!
Should I try some heat, like a hot air gun or is the metel expansion going to be overwhelmed by grind-goo?
                    I need a coffee!
By the way the second part of my equation is a Carimalli Uno, in case you were wondering.

Re: "Favorite" brand, anyone heard of them?

                      Hi Sam

Sorry, Ive been tied up.  If you PM me your email address Ill send you a translation of the instructions. The German was quite tricky in parts and included MANY terms that were neither in my head nor in my dictionary! Also, I think there were some parts where the author was writing tongue-in-cheek, though with Germans one is never sure . There were also a few spelling errors which would not have helped the Google translator (hence the advice in Google to unscrew the burr carrier with a bowl instead of a wrench ;D)

                      Cheers

                      Simon
