Re: Newby needs help!
Ditto to what KK said. Avoid Delonghi, Breville etc the Sunbeam 450 or 480 are the best (and only decent) under $200 grinders or the Kyocera or Hario hand grinders. Any of these will still be OK for a first espresso grinder (finer grind) when/if you get round to getting one.

Get yourself a sunbeam grinder or a ceramic hand grinderOriginally posted by 4A464953494343484941200 link=1276949665/0#0 date=1276949665I am totally new to the maze of buying green, roasting and grinding coffee yourself. Today I picked up my "starter pack" and this afternoon watched in amazement as my old "crazy popper" converted green "peru ceja de selva estate" into roasted beans.
I only have a Vev Vigano moka pot at this stage (baby steps right?), but...wait for it... I dont have a grinder :-[ (did I mention I was a newby). Short of using my Thermomix food processor to grind the beans, Im not really sure where to start. Any tips for brands of grinders, grind levels etc for use in a moka pot?
Thanks
Grind should be about table salt consistency as a starting point and adjust for your machine from that
