My grinder was behaving strangely today (beans "popcorning" in the hopper) so i decided to empty out the beans to take a look...and I realised that the plastic cover thing that protects the rotors from stray fingers has broken off!.
The plastic attachments are riddled with cracks (from the vibration of grinding....<4kg of beans in its lifetimes) and despite my efforts some of the plastic bits that came off could not be found. I can only presume that they ended up in one of my coffess :-/
So, two questions
1) does the plastic cover thingy serve any function except to protect fingers from the burrs?
2) is grinding plastic likely to damage the burrs (coffee still looks alright...)
Thanks
