As an aside, I know its a low end grinder but I am impressed with the simplicity and functionality of the KS. Im a fan of the KISS principle and the KS fits this and is sturdily built. Ive been eyeing off a few Mazzers with envy lately but I am looking at the KS with a new respect/fondness now :P
    Congrats Brewman

I only just recently upgraded from my Anfim Milano, which is pretty much the same grinder as the KS, but with a doser.

Over the 9 years I had it it never skipped a beat. Absolutely bullet proof. I changed the burrs in it for the first time only about 6 months ago, and thats the only money I needed to spend on it the entire time I had it.

Its now been replaced by a Kony-E and has gone to a mates office to work alongside an Imat Mokita (that has a broken internal grinder). Id not be the least bit surprised if he gets another 9+ years out of it

    Cheers,

    Caff

If you can run a fingernail across them and it feels like it is filing off your nail then you are pretty right
They are not that sharp. I ran my fingernail across and it felt like it was catching the rough bits but not filing by a long shot. Ill order some more.
    Thanks

    ECA KS burr set

I have a ECA KS grinder. I bought it second-hand from a fellow CSer and it is my first grinder.

A quick question, what is the expected life from a set of burrs? I remember being told about 80kg, am I remembering correctly?

Today I actually pulled it apart for the first time and removed the burrs to clean them. I would not describe them as blunt but they are not impressively sharp either ie you wouldnt cut yourself on them. How sharp should they be, remember I have not seen new burrs so I have no reference/idea what new burrs are like
