Re: Compak K3T Getting Stuck
Yes, perfectly normal- especially with oily dark roastsOriginally posted by 5B7A7874712426150 link=1287868308/0#0 date=1287868308I sure this is a basic one ...
... I am relatively new to grinders.
My K3T (4 mth old) is set to a pretty fine grind and in general is great, but every so often it stops chewing beans. The burrs continue to spin, but do not chew. I have a feeling beans get caught between the blades or something like that, but cant really see the issue.
Sometimes I can clear it by backing off the setting to a really coarse grind and running some beans through until it is clear, other times I have to empty all the beans out and poke around the blades (switched off of course) and this can be a messy and time consuming operation that can take a couple of goes to work.
Just wondering -
a) Is this normal?
Not really. You could use a slightly lighter roast or alternately, dose a little higher and finer?b) Is there something I can do to avoid it? (eg could it be because my grinding blades are blunt/misaligned)
Youre already doing the right thing Nomad. Its just one of those thnags and can happen to many grinders at very fine grinds. Just back off and then revert to normal service.c) If it does happen, what do you think the simplest way to deal with it is?
Thanks in advance for your knowledge and ideas!
