In general the Isomac is a reasonable match for a Silvia
I couldnt disagree more Greg. Ive yet to come across anything with the name Isomac that I like. This grinders steps are too large, it holds a heap of coffee in the chute, presuming it doesnt end up inside the body of the grinder, its noisy, and its slow.
Im happy to go with an experts opinion here--as far as the Isomac is concerned I only know what I was told when I was grinder hunting. I didnt buy one.

Hi Andy,
I had a granmacinino for about a year (bought second hand) until it died. Was always quite annoyed with the steps being so large. Got a mini-e and the difference in the pour and cup was huge. Have never looked back.
Of course there are also other grinders available, aside from the mini-e.
I suggest that you go into a shop and check out for yourself.

although (also generally) you get more improvement in the cup by upgrading the grinder rather than the machine.
To this, I agree.

Coffee grinder to suit Rancilio Silvia $500 to $1000.
Gday my name is Andy and I am looking for a coffee grinder in the price range of $500 to $1000 dollars that has a burr grinder and can grind my coffee to suit the Rancilio Silvia Espresso machine. I currently have a ISOMAC Granmacinino. What fineness ratio does a Rancilio Silvio need to make good espresso coffee? Do I need to buy a different grinder or do I have my grinder setting wrong?
Thank you for your time and I look forward to your reply.
