Re: Question about turkish coffee grind sizes/appropriate grinder

Sorry, no idea about particle size but the Hario mini slim will do what looks like Turkish to me (based upon what Ive been served at Turkish restaurants) at a snails pace. Unfortunately most hand grinders arent too consistent as the shaft isnt well stabilised. Might be worth looking at a used commercial with new burrs... I havent detected any heat to the touch with mine at low volumes - Ive only done up to 50g though at a time.

  • Question about turkish coffee grind sizes/appropriate grinder

    Hi guys,

I was wondering if someone knew what the typical grind size is for a turkish coffee?  Ive been searching Google and have found sizes typically range from 100-200um and it would be great if someone could confirm this.

Either way, Im interested in buying a high quality turkish coffee grinder for a research project Im beginning.  I need to grind coal (quite similar to coffee in many respects) to a reasonably consistent particle size similar to that of Turkish coffee.  The higher the throughput in a single batch the better, but consistency in grind size is the most important factor to me.  I must use a manual grinder as I need to avoid generating any significant amount of heat during the grinding process.

When searching the only Turkish coffee grinder I can find is the Zassenhaus 175M.  I was wondering if anyone could suggest any other manual grinders to investigate?

    Thank you for your help
